Day five: Presentation of family shield or crest
Objective
- Students will present their family shield or crest to their classmates.
- Students will write a description of their shield or crest, using short, organized paragraphs to describe each member of the "Family" and other elements of the shield or crest.
Independent Practice (45 minutes)
Activity One
Student groups go to front of room and present their family shield or crest to their classmates. Teacher sits in back of room and fills out an evaluation form for the group, based on the rubric provided with the assignment sheet. Teacher assigns a group grade.
Activity Two
Student groups work together and write a description of their family shield or crest. This report must provide detailed information about each member of the "Family" and other elements of the shield or crest.
Closure (5 minutes)
Teacher hands each student a blank copy of the ACR (Action-Connection-Reflection) form and asks the students to write their responses to the prompts. Teacher collects Action/Connection/Reflection papers before the students leave. Teacher reads and assigns a grade for this work
