Pre-conference workshops

The National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL) is happy to announce three pre-conference Workshops that will be held concurrently during the upcoming 2014 Conference in Chicago, IL April 24, 2014.

1. Planning, proposing, and implementing a successful STARTALK Program

This workshop will introduce participants to the process and the thinking behind developing a summer STARTALK program.

2. The Language Flagship Secondary Arabic Curriculum Workshop: Implementing Standards- Based Arabic Curriculum and Digitalized Instructional Materials

This workshop will provide US secondary school teachers of Arabic as a foreign language access to state of the art thematic and standards based instructional materials.

3. Hands-On Training On Using Web 2.0 To Teach Language as Culture.

This workshop aims at training K-16 teachers on using Web 2.0 tools to teach language as culture. Participants will be introduced to software, techniques, strategies, and examples that use such tools in teaching culture.
