Summer language study abroad
The application deadline for American Councils’ summer programs throughout Eurasia is quickly approaching.
February 15 is the application deadline for the Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP), featuring language and cultural immersion in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine.
Applications and complete program information are available at http://www.aceurasiaabroad.org/.
ERLP provides participants with intensive individualized instruction in any one of nearly 20 regional languages in 10 Eurasian countries. Courses are designed to strengthen speaking, listening, reading, and writing proficiency in the language of study. Academic courses focus on grammar and lexical studies, phonetics, vocabulary development, and conversational skills, with area studies, literature, and culture classes for advanced students. Classes are conducted in small groups or private tutorials by native speakers with extensive experience teaching foreign students. In addition to classroom learning, American Councils emphasizes language immersion outside of the academic program through: volunteer opportunities, cultural excursions, extracurricular activities, and life with host families. U.S. undergraduate or graduate credit is provided through Bryn Mawr College.
