Unit 20: My future world

Day five: Interview of a working person


  • Students will be able to describe and explain.
  • Students will work collaboratively.
  • Students will speak and write in short paragraphs.

Setting the Stage (5 minutes)

Teacher explains that today is the day students will share the results of their interview of a working person with their classmates (See the My Future World project and rubric). Student pairs are to ask each other questions about each other's interviews. Teacher will circulate and will evaluate each student's presentation.

Independent Practice (up to 45minutes)

Students arrange themselves in a line-up or circle-within-a-circle format and present the results of their interview with a working person to classmates, one at a time. Teacher places him- or herself in a fixed location and evaluates two presentations. When the students rotate to the next partner, Teacher remains in the original location and evaluates the next two students. This rotation-evaluation continues until Teacher has heard and evaluated all the presentations.

Closure (5 minutes)

Teacher informs students that they will be rehearsing their role play (see the My Future World project and rubric) during the next class meeting. Teacher responds to questions students might have about their project.
