Unit 14: Living in My World

Climate, weather, geographical features, ecology, civic affairs, driving and traffic. Written translation into English; review of past tense. The unit lasts for 7-8 days.

Objectives

Students will be able to:
  • Relate past events when writing or speaking
  • Give driving directions
  • Discuss environmental concerns such as:
    1. - modes of transportation
    2. - weather and climate
    3. - personal choices that affect one's environmental footprint
    4. - perspectives on local as well as international neighborhoods
  • Plan and participate in a community service project

Students:
  • 1.1: Engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • 1.2: Understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics.
  • 1.3: Present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.
  • 2.1: Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the culture studied.
  • 2.2: Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the products and perspectives of the culture studied.
  • 3.1: Reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the foreign language.
