Unit 11: Adventure Travels

Vacation destinations and activities; cultural awareness; using travel vocabulary (all 4 skills); describing past events; review of obtaining information, expressing likes and dislikes, making requests. The unit lasts for 7 days.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

• Communicate both orally and in writing about an imaginary vacation
• Describe vacation spots to visit
• Tell about past events and travel experiences
• Understand and demonstrate cultural awareness about travel
• Create a photo journal and share with classmates

Lessons

• Day 1: Travel photos
• Day 2: An imaginary trip
• Day 3: Telephone game
• Day 4: Charades
• Days 5-6: Researching and writing travel brochures
• Day 7: Presenting our travel brochures

Meeting the Language Learning Continuum

• Students will engage in conversations.
• Students will obtain and provide information when speaking, reading and writing.
• Students will make requests.
• Students will express likes and dislikes.
• Students will demonstrate Stage One and Stage Two functions in communicating with some errors that do not hinder comprehension.
